3 Life Lessons Learnt From Kanye West

In April 2020, Forbes estimated that Kanye West, the rapper-turned-footwear businessman has an approximate net worth of $1.3 billion. In reality, after claiming to be $53 million in debt just four years ago, he has come a long way. The rapper then used his social media platforms in February 2016 to solicit a loan of $1 billion from Facebook founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg to support his work after revealing his financial woes on Twitter.

“I write this to you my brothers while still 53 million dollars in personal debt. Please pray we overcome. This is my true heart.” West tweeted at the time.

Throughout his career, Kanye West has taught us many life lessons, enough to restore hope and courage, irrespective of whatever challenges we may be passing through in life. We will be inspiring ourselves with some of them as you continue to read.

YOU CAN DO WHATEVER YOU SET YOUR MIND TO IF YOU ARE DETERMINED

Despite coming from the South Side of Chicago, Illinois, Kanye West made his industry debut with his song, “The Dropout School”. This song was a brilliant musical composition at that time but there were plenty of critics who did not believe in his talent. Experts in the music industry claimed he didn’t have a reasonable chance of becoming a decent artist. In all of those things, Kanye didn’t give up.  He believed in himself and took advantage of every chance.

Determination is very important because it helps one fight the good fight in the face of problems. It makes one march with confidence fearlessly, until the target is met.  As life is never smooth, when we encounter obstacles many of us tend to fall apart. However, we can overcome any kind of obstacles we face in life, with determination. As Tomi Wale would say, “keep moving”.

SEEK GROWTH CONTINUOUSLY, EVEN WHEN IT IS NOT CONVENIENT FOR YOU.

Kanye  needed to make a difficult decision when the famous Rockefeller Records broke up. He had to decide between working with  Jay-Z or Damon Dash and he chose Jay Z. Acknowledging that he was more connected to Damon Dash than to Jay-Z, he chose to stick with the latter even with  the wide personality difference.

Growth is a significant part of an individual’s path toward self-discovery and self-love. To become the person you dream of becoming, there has to be deliberate thought and action taken.

IT’S IMPORTANT TO HAVE STRONG SELF CONFIDENCE EVEN IF EVERYONE ELSE MISCONSTRUES  IT AS PRIDE

Kanye has always had a reputation for being confident and proud of his accomplishments. He made it clear in a number of his songs. His strong self-assurance is part of why he is in his present position. It’s okay to be extra optimistic, every now and then. If nobody believes in you, then you have to believe in yourself. It’s the only way you can get people to back up what you’re doing. Self-confidence will make your whole life easier, while lack of confidence would certainly have a negative effect on your social relationships, jobs, achievements and even mood.

We see, that from being a rapper to becoming a billionaire with everything at his disposal, Kanye West is a true motivator indeed and one whose life story inspires many.
